After School Clubs

Schedule & Transportation

We aim to provide a high quality After School Club that meets the needs of both parents and children. For parents, this means knowing that your child is safe and happy in a club that is reliable and offers a consistent service.

For a child this means an environment that is safe, supportive and encouraging. It is a place to be with friends and make new ones; to be able to try out new activities, to relax, to have fun and enjoy.

The clubs will provide a balanced structure of activities and sport experiences.

They begin on Monday, August 15th.

The Boys and Girls Club After-School Program is free and open to all KMS students Monday – Friday (registration form required). We meet in the cafeteria right after school and close at 6:00 PM. We serve snacks to all registered members at the start of club. The KMS Boys and Girls Club is equipped with a variety of entertaining and educational tools that extend learning and teach new skills.

A few Programs members participate in:

Power Hour: An hour of homework and extended learning help.

Triple Play: Inside/Outside exercise activities for all members.

Arts & Crafts: Create works of art with the tools provided by the club.

3D Printing: Learn how to bring 3D models to real life.

Stop Motion Animation: Direct, design and film with our stop animation program.

Our goal is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

For more information and registration forms stop by the front office or send your student to room 101.

The Kennedy MS Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA) is a school club that aims to create a safe, welcoming, and accepting school environment for all students. We are here to provide support to every student, educate each other on social issues, and engage in awareness activities in the school and around the community. Leadership

The Middle School Leadership After-School Program is open to all students, whether they are in a Leadership elective class or not.  All that is required is parent or guardian permission and a ride home at 5:00pm, as there is no activity bus.  There is no cost.

After-School Leadership activities complement the elective class, and focus on teaching healthy values and good citizenship through activities.  Several activities complement academic classes by teaching focus and use of math and writing skills.  Students are allowed to bring their own snacks and water, but no snacks are provided.

Leadership activities include:

Mondays:  Archery (including one optional competition on a Saturday each semester)

Tuesdays:  STEM/Aerospace/Civil Air Patrol.  STEM may include underwater robotics, RC Airplanes, Drones, and Rocketry.

Wednesdays:  Physical challenge OR Emergency Preparedness OR Wilderness Survival

Thursdays:  Color Guard/Drill Team. Students who join the Color Guard may be asked to perform at school or community events

Fridays:  Classy Living (learning about skills for formal events and professional situations like job interviews)

Students may choose to participate in any or all of the activities, but if they attend they must participate.

Students meet the instructors at the South end of the school near the front after school is dismissed for the day.  They must sign in and out of the activity and remain with an instructor.  Activities are finished by 5:00pm, and students must be picked up from the back parking lot by the portables by 5:30pm.

2021-2022 Instructors are Major "Tedbo" Hartenstein, USAF (Ret), and Mr. Dominic Perales (Color Guard and Drill Team Specialist).
